The apostle Paul did not believe in the inevitability of perseverance. It is possible to be led astray, even for Christians living out the gospel. But if we study the scriptures with all of our minds and love Christ’s body with all of our hearts, we can stand firm with unbroken ranks against the pressures of the world, the flesh, and the devil–shoulder to shoulder with eyes fixed on Jesus.
