Weather impact on Sunday services

Update: Due to poor local travel conditions, we have prayerfully decided to cancel all Sunday morning services for January 24th. We encourage you to worship with your families from the warmth and safety of your homes as well as seek ways to assist and minister to friends and neighbors nearby.

The ministry fair scheduled for this morning will be postponed until next week. However, in order to accommodate the many ministry activities of the week in the FYF Worship Center we will need to remove the displays that are currently set up. Those who are able to come to the church to assist are encouraged to do so sometime by late Monday afternoon, but only after conditions are safe for travel.

Please be safe and have a blessed Lord’s day!

Due to inclement weather, there will be no activities during the Sunday School hour at 9am tomorrow morning. We will provide an update in the morning around 8am concerning the 10:15 worship service. All updates will be sent via email and posted to the church’s Facebook page and website. Please help spread the word. Thank you!

Radical Discipleship

16-radical-discipleship - projector“Radical” is a term we encounter often. Radical Islamic terrorists, radical student protesters, radical activists, radical pro-lifers or radical abortionists. I wouldn’t dare call certain football team proponents ‘radical’ would I? So, basically we use the term for someone who is out of their mind. Someone who truly does not care about anyone else. They are agenda driven – normally at the expense of someone else. But the word ‘radical’ comes from at Latin word “radix” which means “root.” This series – and all we are focused on this year – considers the root, the foundations, the formative elements, the ground, the basis of everything else. What are the unchangeable things about calling ourselves disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ? These are the rudiments that are non-negotiable. They are the things by which we see everything else. They point to the personal and loving agenda of Jesus and that means that we live for others with His mind and His heart. We don’t use others we love and serve them. Let’s be radical!

Online Giving

BluePayBeginning today, gifts to Elizabeth City Evangelical Methodist Church can be made through an easy and secure online portal via the church’s website at ecityemc.org/giving.php. Through a partnership with Church Community Builder (churchcommunitybuilder.com) and BluePay (bluepay.com) – leaders in church management software and technology-enabled payment processing – we are offering this service to make giving to the church easier and more convenient than ever before.

Why Online Giving?

Times are changing. Many people never carry a checkbook or write a check. Many others seldom ever carry cash. Today’s tech-savvy generation shops online and pays bills online, so giving online makes a lot of sense. It is faster, easier, and safer than writing checks, because electronic gifts are instant and cannot be lost or stolen. With the ability to set up recurring gifts, scheduled monthly giving is simple, and if you give through our secure login portal you can easily access your giving history with a single click.

Online Giving Options

We are offering two ways to give online:

  • CCB-menu-givingRecurring gifts – Those who attend EMC regularly have the option to log into our church management software, CCB. Once signed in, users can access the Giving portal from the menu on the lefthand side of the screen. By logging into CCB users have the ability to:
    • Schedule gifts in advance
    • Set up automatically recurring gifts
    • Use their checking account as the giving source (instead of a credit or debit card)
    • Access their complete giving history
    • Download giving statements

Logging into CCB’s secure network environment also offers an additional layer of security to the electronic giving process.

  • One-time gifts – Those who wish to give a one-time gift without the need to sign into CCB may give via the public giving portal, however they will not have access to the additional features available through signing in mentioned above.

Both options for giving online are safe and secure and allow you to designate how you want your gift/s to be applied.

Questions?

If you have any questions about the online giving option, please contact EMC today and we will happily assist you.

Looking With All Our Hearts

15-advent-looking - projectorEveryone is looking for love. No thing and no one can ever fulfill that desire as long as we look to anything other than Jesus. The People of God lived for millennia longing for a Messiah, a King, and a Savior. When He actually showed up those around Him were looking so hard for a Redeemer of their own making that they missed what was right in front of their faces.

We must be honest. If they could miss the One for whom they were longing then it is quite possible that we can as well. This Advent series looks at the sweeping promises of Scripture that God will go to radical lengths to show us Himself. We will gaze into the beauty of the fulfillment that Jesus is for every human longing. In order to do so we need to look for Jesus anew with open hearts. What we will find is that He longs to offer Himself far more than our searching.
