The Lord of the Harvest is looking for workers who will join him in his compassion for and ministry to the world. His harvest is not made up of wheat or barley, but of the souls of people in the world he loves. We are not called to reap the entire harvest, but to participate in the harvest wherever he calls us.

Jesus never asked his disciples to go and be witnesses in the world in their own power. Instead he commanded them to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit to come upon them. He is the power for all Christian mission.

The Apostle Paul instructs the church to have the mind, or attitude, of Christ. As we seek to be the people of mission we are called to be, this means adopting and cultivating the attitude of Christ toward the world and follow him in his sentness to it, in love.

God has given the greatest gift that he has to offer. He has sent his one and only Son into the world, not to condemn it, but to save it. He was not compelled to do this because the world was so lovely, but because of his own loving nature.
